Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

Can my employees clean the hood?
NFPA 96 requires that “the entire exhaust system shall be cleaned by a properly trained, qualified, and certified company or persons.” This type of cleaning requires specialized tools, equipment, and knowledge to thoroughly service the kitchen exhaust system and ensure safety.

Kitchen exhaust systems are critical to fire safety. Fires in cooking areas can quickly spread into the exhaust system, which can act as fuel, causing the fire to escalate uncontrollably. Regular cleaning helps prevent this by removing grease buildup, a major fire hazard.

We clean the entire kitchen exhaust system, including visible areas like the hood, filters, and exhaust fan, as well as hard-to-reach parts like horizontal and vertical ductwork. We also clean the fan and fan housing on the roof. The cleaning process involves scraping off heavy grease buildup, applying cleaning agents, and using hot water pressure to wash the system thoroughly from top to bottom. Finally, we clean and polish the hood.

The cleaning frequency depends on the type of cooking and how often the system is used. It can vary from monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, to annually, depending on the specific needs of your facility.

You should choose a company with certified technicians to perform or supervise the work, and ensure they have full insurance coverage to protect against property damage and injuries during service. We are fully insured, bonded, and always have a certified technician leading or supervising the cleaning. Our employees are also covered under workers’ compensation.

Yes, we can start the cleaning process approximately 30 minutes before your kitchen closes. This includes preparing hoses, setting up ladders, accessing the roof area, and mixing chemicals, while you turn off and cool the equipment under the hood.

Yes, we guarantee that our cleaning service will pass all inspections. If your kitchen exhaust system has not been on a regular maintenance schedule, it may require more than one cleaning to meet our company’s standards and pass inspection.

We understand that cancellations may occur. However, we require a cancellation notice at least 24 hours in advance. If not, a service charge of $100 will be applied. This is because we may lose revenue from the time and date we have scheduled for your service.
